Semi solid colors

Semi-solid colors are unique shades that showcase the natural variations from the unevenness of the dye bath. Even when I’m working with just one color, it’s quite a challenge to achieve a perfectly solid hue. Why is that? Well, I use yarn that has already been spun by a mill, so when I dye this fiber, the color doesn’t always stick evenly.

This is what makes hand-dyed yarn so special and appealing! Instead of aiming for perfectly uniform colors, hand-dyed yarn offers intriguing depth and lovely organic variations, ensuring that each skein is truly one-of-a-kind. When worn in a finished garment, semi-solids may appear as one solid color from afar, but up close, they reveal a fascinating complexity that adds character.
